Definition of computer:
A Computer is a machine that can be programmed to accept Input(Data) and Process it into useful information(Output) and store it away in a Secondary Storage Drive.
World first Computer:
The first mechanical computer, The Babbage Difference Engine, was designed by Charles Babbage in 1822. The ABC was the basis for the modern computer we all use today. The ABC weighed over 700 pounds and used vacuum tubes. It had a rotating drum, a little bigger than a paint can, that had small capacitors on it.It was a simple calculating machine only for Mathematical purpose.
Improvement in computer:
With the passage of time, there is is an implementations in Computer to make it for more purposes.
World first programmable Computer:
The ENIAC;Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer) was the first programmable, electronic, general-purpose digital computer, completed in 1945. There were other computers that had these features, but the ENIAC had all of them in one package. It was developed by the United States during World War 2.American physicist John Mauchly, American engineer J.
UNIVAC Computer:
After ENIACanother large computer called UNIVAC (UNIVersal Automatic Computer). The first practical electronic computer was built by Eckert and Mauchly (of ENIAC fame) in 1951. UNIVAC and other first-generation computers were replaced by transistor computers of the late 1950s, which were smaller, used less power, and could perform nearly a thousand times more operations per second.
First Transistor Computer:
In January of 1954, supported by the military, engineers from Bell Labs built the first computer without vacuum tubes. Known as TRADIC (for TRAnsistorized DIgital Computer), the machine was a mere three cubic feet, a mind-boggling size when compared with the 1000 square feet ENIAC hogged.
IBM-7090:
After TRADIC in 1959 by the IBM 7090, a 36-bit scientific machine, the highly popular IBM 1401 designed to replace punched card tabulating machines, and the desk-sized 1620, a variable length decimal machine.
IBM-7094:
The 7094 was first introduced in January 1962, according to IBM. IBM won a contract with NASA for the space program's Gemini-Apollo Real-Time Computer Complex, and 7094 mainframes were used for software development, according to an official history of the space program from NASA.
First Microprocessor Computer:
The Intel 4004 is a 4-bit central processing unit (CPU) released by Intel Corporation in 1971. Sold for US$60, it was the first commercially produced microprocessor, and the first in a long line of Intel CPUs.
Then the vast number of improvement made in computers to make it very powerful and huge number of tasks. So this is the history of computer.I hope you will read it and enhance your knowledge.
